Mount Lewotobi Men Still Erupted, 8 Flights To Flores Canceled

A total of eight planes were forced to cancel their flights to Flores Island and Lembata due to the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki in East Flores Regency which is still happening on Tuesday, July 8.

"It was recorded that eight planes until 1 pm canceled flights due to the eruption of Mount Lewotobi," said Acting Temporary Replacement (PGS) Legal, Compliance & Stakeholder Relations at El Tari Kupang Airport I Gusti Ngurah Yudi Saputra in Kupang, Tuesday 8 July.

The activity of Mount Lewotobi Men's activities since yesterday has continued to erupt.

He said that the six aircraft that canceled their flight came from one airline, Wings Air.

The flight route that canceled the flight was WingsAir IW1828 Maumere-Kupang, WingsAir IW1829 Kupang-Maumere WingsAir IW1994 Lewoleba-Kupang and Wingsair IW1995 Kupang-Lewoleba.

Next are WingsAir IW1930 Larantuka-Kupang WingsAir IW1931 Kupang-Larantuka, WangsAir IW1928 Larantuka-Kupang and WingsAir IW1929 Kupang-Larantuka.

"So for Kupang Larantuka there are four flights in one day," he said.

He explained that the opening and cancellation of flights depends on the situation or natural conditions that occur in the eruption.

Previously, at the top of Mount Lewotobi, Male-laki erupted as high as 4,000 meters on Tuesday (8/7) morning. The ash column was observed to be gray with thick intensity leaning towards the West and Northwest.

This eruption activity was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 14.8 mm and a duration of approximately 3 minutes 11 seconds.
