Police: Jalan Liwa West Lampung Collapses, Trucks And Large Vehicles Are Prohibited From Passing
The West Lampung Police Traffic Unit imposed a temporary ban on large-tonage vehicles crossing the Liwa 'Krui route, precisely in the Pekon Kubu Boat area, Balik Bukit District.
This ban was implemented following a landslide that caused part of the road to collapse and endanger road users.
West Lampung Police Traffic Head Iptu Deni Saputra said the ban was imposed because the condition of land in the affected locations was no longer stable. According to him, only small vehicles and motorbikes can still pass on a limited basis.
"The condition of the land at the collapsed point is already unstable and is very risky if large tonnage vehicles are passed," Deni said when contacted from South Lampung, Antara, Monday, July 7.
The police, he said, had put up a ban banner and warning signs at vulnerable points as an anticipatory measure. The banner informed the prohibition of crossing for six-wheeled vehicles and the like coming from West Lampung to Pesisir Barat and Bengkulu Regencies.
"This prohibition is for the sake of mutual safety. We urge all drivers to obey the rules. Do not let any casualties result from forcing themselves," said Deni.
Although bans and diversions have been socialized since some time ago, police are still finding a number of heavy vehicles desperate to cross the route, especially at night until early morning.
"We remind you again that safety is a priority. If a heavy vehicle continues to be forced through a collapsed lane, the risk is very fatal," he said.
