Former Minister Of Youth And Sports Imam Nahrawi Sentenced To Seven Years In Prison Due To Corruption In Today's Memory, June 29, 2020

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has sniffed out corrupt practices carried out by Kemenpora officials. As a result, the KPK succeeded in carrying out hand arrest operations (OTT) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports officials.
They arrested Deputy IV for Achievement and Sports Improvement of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mulyana. Commitment Making Officer of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Adhi Purnomo and his staff member, Eko Triyanto was also arrested.

The KPK also arrested the Secretary General of the Central Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), Ending Fuad Hamidy and the Central KONI Treasurer, Johnny F. Awuy. The arrests were related to various corruption cases.

The name of Imam was finally dragged away. The KPK sniffed that Imam participated in accepting bribes. It was not directly because the money came in through his assistant Miftahul Ulum.
The KPK tried to further investigate Imam's involvement. Finally, it was discovered that Imam was involved in corruption in grant funds from 2014 to 2018. The KPK also announced the status of Imam as a suspect on September 18, 2019. Then, Imam resigned from the position of Minister of Youth and Sports.
In the 2014 2018 range, Imam as Menpora through Ulum as the personal assistant of the Minister of Youth and Sports is suspected of having received Rp14.7 billion. In addition to receiving the money, in the 2016-2018 period, Imam as the Minister of Youth and Sports is suspected of also asking for a total of Rp11.8 billion, up to a total of Rp26.5 billion.
"The money is suspected to be a commitment fee for the management of a grant proposal submitted by KONI to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the 2018 fiscal year, receipts related to the Chairman of the Steering Committee of Satlak Prima and other receipts related to the position of Imam as Menpora. The money is allegedly used for the personal interests of the Minister of Youth and Sports and other related parties," said KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah in a press release, quoted on the KPK website the day after, September 19, 2019.
The trial of the Imam bribery case also took place. All Indonesians also criticized Imam's involvement in corruption. At its peak, the panel of judges at the Central Jakarta Corruption District Court sentenced Imam to seven years in prison and a fine of Rp. 400 million, subsidiary to three months in prison on June 29, 2020.
Imam is considered legally and convincingly proven to have committed corruption and was detrimental to the state. Imam is considered proven guilty of violating Article 12 letter a in conjunction with Article 18 and Article 12B Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended in Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 65 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
However, the verdict was far from the prosecutor's demands, which wanted a sentence of 10 years in prison. The panel of judges in their consideration said that Imam had been polite and had never been convicted.
