Kirab Malam 1 Suro, Fadli Zon Joins The Carnival As A Form Of Respect For Javanese Culture
SURAKARTA - Thousands of residents packed the road in the center of Solo, Friday morning, June 27. They attended the Suro Night Carnival which was held by the Surakarta Hadiningrat Kasunanan Palace. The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadli Zon, was also present in this sacred procession as a form of respect for Javanese cultural heritage which continues to live across generations.
"Tonight, I was with my ladies and gentlemen at the Surakarta Palace to attend the commemoration of One Suro Night. This is not just a tradition, but an important part of our history," said Minister Fadli when met by the media crew as quoted on Saturday, June 27.
Kirab Malam 1 Suro became a symbol of the turn of the year in the Java calendar. The procession begins with a joint prayer at the Pendhapa Ageng Keraton, then continues with the carnival around the city. All participants walked without footwear, in total silence or silence. There is no sound. Only step absorption and internal vibrations unite.
Minister Fadli emphasized that this tradition is full of meaning. He reflected spirituality, prayers of safety, respect for ancestors, and strengthening the identity of the Javanese people. "Activities like this give a deep meaning to the people of Java and all Indonesian people," he said.
Along the route of about 7'8 kilometers, people spilled over on the road. They want to see firsthand the heirloom procession that is believed to bring blessings. The procession is led by Kebo Bule Kyai Slamet, the heirloom buffalo that is considered sacred. Behind him, the courtier, the soldier, the grandson of the lampah, the big family of Kasunanan Surakarta, and the community who have passed the ritual stages in the palace.
Different from the Mangkunegaran Temple carnival which started earlier, the Surakarta Palace Carnival lasts until early morning. This year's route passes through the Kasunanan Palace Supit Urang North Square-North Square Jalan Pakubuwono Gladag Jalan Jenderal Sudirman Jalan Mayor Kusmanto Jalan Captain Mulyadi Jalan Veteran Jalan Yos Sudarso Jalan Slamet Riyadi and kembali ke Keraton.
This tradition is not just a ritual. Sero's 1 Night Carnival becomes a meeting space between society, culture, and spirituality. The value of togetherness radiates when all elements unite in silent behavior. Every step becomes a prayer for the safety of the nation.
Minister Fadli called this Order an extraordinary cultural event that must be maintained. "The enthusiasm of society is very high. We hope that this tradition will continue to grow, be more lively, and become an inspiring cultural magnet," he said.
He also had time to stay in touch with Sinuwun Paku Buwono XIII, the extended family of the Palace, the head of traditional institutions, and Panembahan Ageng in a warm atmosphere. "We will provide full support so that the cultural program in the Surakarta Palace continues to grow," he said.
