TNI Prepares Special Team To Evacuate Indonesian Citizens From Iran And Israel
TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto deployed 34 personnel who were members of a special team to evacuate Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Iran and Israel.
"The plan to evacuate Indonesian citizens (WNI) from Iran and Israel will involve the Crisis Response Team (CRT) consisting of 34 joint TNI personnel," said Head of the Information Center (Kapuspen) TNI Headquarters Major General Kristomei Sianturi as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 19.
Kristomei said as many as 34 troops are currently still in Jakarta, and they are ready to receive orders if necessary to evacuate Indonesian citizens while they are still Israeli, Iranian or when they arrive at Indonesian airports.
Kristomei said that based on data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are currently 578 Indonesian citizens in Iran and Israel.
That number consists of 386 people in Iran and 192 in Israel. Of these, 115 Indonesian citizens in Iran and 11 Indonesian citizens in Israel were willing to be evacuated.
"Most of them are students and students who live in areas that are currently categorized as vulnerable," said Kristomei.
Later, he said, Indonesian citizens from Iran will depart for Baku on Friday (20/6) at 07.00 local time (11.00 WIB).
Arriving in Baku, Indonesian citizens will transit for two nights before continuing their return flights to Indonesia by commercial aircraft on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
Meanwhile, the plan to evacuate Indonesian citizens from Israel is planned to go through Amman (Yordania), before departing by air to Indonesia.

Kristomei has not been able to explain in detail when the 34 personnel played a role in the evacuation process. He only made sure the TNI personnel were ready if they had to be dispatched to vulnerable areas to evacuate Indonesian citizens.
"The TNI emphasizes that the protection of Indonesian citizens, both at home and abroad, is part of the constitutional tasks carried out, and will continue to be carried out optimally within the framework of national interests," explained Kristomei.
