RI-Russia Agree On Strategic Partnership, President Putin: Key Partner In Asia Pacific Region
JAKARTA - President Vladimir Putin assessed that the Republic of Indonesia is a key partner for the Russian Federation in the Asia Pacific region, when the two countries agreed on a strategic partnership.
He conveyed this in a press statement with the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto after a bilateral meeting that discussed various matters during a State Visit at the status Palace, St. Petersburg.
A number of cooperation and agreements were signed by the two countries today, as part of the strategic partnership between Jakarta and Moscow. Documents signed include cooperation in the field of higher education; MoU in the field of transportation; cooperation in information technology, communications and mass media, to agreements to establish a Russian-Indonesai investment platform with 2 billion euros.
"I want to underline that Indonesia is a key partner of the Russian Federation in the Asia Pacific region," quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Thursday, June 19.
"The bilateral relations between the two developing countries are based on the principles of trust and friendship. This year we celebrate 75 years of bilateral relations," said President Putin.
"Today Russia is also trying to develop relations between the two countries consistently," he continued.
President Putin said, as an authoritative and licensing country in the international arena, he believes Indonesia will increase the potential of BRICS and make a big contribution.
President Putin further emphasized that Indonesia is one of Russia's main trading partners in Southeast Asia.
"Last year the trade volume of the two countries reached USD 4.3 billion," said President Putin.

"During the first four months of this year, trading volume rose 40 percent," he said.
Meanwhile, President Prabowo Subianto said the Russian Federation has always been an important partner for Indonesia in the political, economic and socio-cultural fields.
"I hope this visit will bring significant progress to relations between the two countries," concluded President Prabowo.
