President Putin And President Prabowo Praise Each Other For Increasing Indonesia-Russia Cooperation

JAKARTA - President Vladimir Putin and President Prabowo Subianto praised the cooperation between Russia and Indonesia when the two leaders met in St. Petersburg, Russia, Thursday.

President Putin, who was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov warmly welcomed President Prabowo's State Visit accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya at the Palace.

"Our relationship with Indonesia continues to grow, trade turnover increases," said President Putin, starting his conversation with President Prabowo, quoted from the Kremlin's official website, Thursday, June 19.

"We have good prospects for a number of priority and very interesting areas of cooperation. These include agriculture, space, energy and cooperation in the field of military-technical cooperation. We have a large volume of cooperation, and increasing cooperation volume," he added.

Meanwhile, President Prabowo thanked President Putin for President Putin's warm welcome to himself and the Indonesian delegation.

Noting the increase in relations between Jakarta and Moscow over the past year, President Prabowo appreciated the increased cooperation between the two countries.

"Our relationship continues to improve, I am following developments, a lot of progress in various fields, our economic relations improve, cooperate in various fields and participate in the trade zone agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union," said President Prabowo, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube.

"Thank you President Putin, a lot of progress in this relationship, thank you for being invited as an honorary guest at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2025)," said President Prabowo.

Before meeting President Putin, President Prabowo made a pilgrimage and placed a wreath at the Piskarovskoye Memorial Cemetery, St. Petersburg.

Tomorrow, President Prabowo is scheduled to make a speech at the opening session and plenary session of the 2025 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
