A joint team from the Jelutung Police and the Jambi Police Satreskrim arrested the alleged perpetrator of the murder of a close friend who was given a drink mixed with cyanide poison and the suspect also took the victim to the hospital for medical help.

Kasatreskrim Jambi Police Commissioner Hendra Wijaya Manurung revealed that the perpetrator with the initials AFY (21) allegedly had the heart to kill the victim with the initials RH (23) by poisoning his drink using cyanide purchased online.

"The perpetrator mixed potassium CN or known as cyanide into the victim's drink," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 17.

The murder case of a young man in a boarding house in Jambi City revealed surprising facts, the victim and the perpetrator or suspect had a same-sex relationship and his relationship had been going on for four years.

The victim was allegedly killed because the perpetrator was jealous after finding out that the victim had another partner.

He explained that the perpetrator and the victim had same-sex relationships, but recently, the perpetrator suspected that the victim had another partner who made the perpetrator angry and systematically designed the murder.

"The motive was because of jealousy, the perpetrator suspected that the victim had another lover so that he planned a murder plan," he said.

The tragic incident occurred on Monday (16/6) in a boarding room in the Jalan Prof. M. Yamin area, Jelutung, Jambi City. The perpetrators invited the victim to meet under the pretext of wanting to give 'strong medicine' so that their intimate relationship could last a long time.

During the meeting, the victim brought two bottles of bottled sugar milk. Unbeknownst to the victim, the perpetrator mixed poison into one of the bottles, then ordered the victim to drink it.

Shortly after drinking the drink, the victim began to have shortness of breath and weakened his body. The perpetrator then took the victim to Baiturrahim Hospital using an ambulance, but the victim was declared dead when he arrived at the hospital.

The police who received the report immediately moved quickly and from the results of the crime scene (TKP) and the initial examination, the victim's friend finally admitted his actions.

The suspect AFY was charged with Article 340 of the Criminal Code concerning Premeditated Murder, a subsidiary of Article 338 of the Criminal Code concerning Murder, with a maximum penalty of death or life imprisonment.
