Don't Be Late, Hearing Disorders Can Be Detected Since A Baby
JAKARTA - Hearing disorders are included in silent disability or hidden disability, because their appearance is often not realized. Whereas hearing loss can actually be detected from a baby.
A specialist in THT (Telinga, Nose, Teng curong), dr. Rangga Rayendra Saleh said that hearing loss can be detected in babies aged 1 month, then followed by a complete examination at the age of 3 months.
If the child has hearing loss, intervention must be carried out to support its growth and development in the future. Doctor Rangga stated that hearing loss in children should have been intervened no later than 6 months.
"The slowest at the age of 6 months has started to intervene," said Doctor Rangga, when met in Senayan, Jakarta, some time ago.
Doctor Rangga said that children's hearing loss, which began to be treated at the age of one year and over, was quite late. Therefore, parents must be sensitive to their child's condition from a baby.
"Actually, if it is detected at the age of 1 year, it is too late, especially if parents only come to the doctor at the age of 2 to 3 years," he explained.
Meanwhile, the characteristics of a baby who has hearing impairments can be seen from the development of making a sound from his mouth. If the baby is 6 months old or not, it must be checked immediately because of the possibility of hearing loss.
