Apple Is Threatened To Be Left Behind In The AI Race! This Is What They Must Do

JAKARTA - Financial company Wedbush revealed that WWDC 2025 is indicative of Apple's "Apple Intelligence" strategy, but warned that without any significant breakthroughs in the near future, the tech giant may be forced to acquire a massive AI company to catch up.

Although many investors and analysts are disappointed with the main presentation of WWDC 2025, Daniel Ives of Wedbush stated that Apple has actually shown its vision in the AI world even though it is with a more careful approach. According to him, the WWDC 2024 strategy error has now made Apple choose a safe and "low-key" route.

However, Ives insists that the next 12 months will be a crucial time for "Apple Intelligence." If Apple does not make rapid progress, the company could be forced to disburse large funds to acquire AI companies as an attempt to catch up with Google, Microsoft and OpenAI.

As usual, Apple often acquires many companies every year secretly and only announces it if its acquisition value is relatively large. So far, it is known that Apple has purchased several AI startups for calendar and manufacturing features, but Ives believes that it is not enough to meet market expectations.

"We are very confident that Apple will be able to make the right acquisitions, but the time is very limited. Investors will highlight Apple Intelligence in the next 12 months, and they want to see concrete results," Ives wrote.

Although WWDC 2025 does not display a big boost like last year, Wedbush still maintains Apple's share price target at 270 US dollars (approximately IDR 4.4 million). This target was previously raised in May 2025, more because of Apple's ability to deal with global disruption, including export rates imposed by President Donald Trump since January 2025.

Apple Will Acquire OpenAI?

There are no specific indications yet regarding which AI companies might be acquired by Apple. However, with the valuation of several AI startups now reaching billions of dollars (equivalent to tens of trillions of rupiah), this step will certainly be a big signal that Apple is serious about competing in AI fields.

For now, Apple is opening up access to Apple Intelligence to third-party developers, but the world is waiting for the next "big move".
