Visit To Singapore, Prabowo Is Warmly Welcomed By Prime Minister Wong
JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Singapore, Sunday night, June 15, his arrival was greeted directly by Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
As stated in the statement received, Prabowo and his limited entourage arrived at Paya Wid Air Base at around 21.00 local time. PM Wong appears to be under the plane's stairs to welcome President Prabowo.
The meeting between the two took place warmly. The two leaders seemed to shake hands and chat with each other.
Apart from PM Wong, Prabowo was also present to welcome Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Baskrishnan, Singaporean Ambassador to Indonesia Kwok Fook Seng, Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Suryo Pratomo, and the Defense Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore Colonel Hendra Supriyadi.
PM Wong then accompanied Prabowo to the official vehicle that had been prepared. Prabowo had time to thank PM Wong for the welcome.
"Thank you, thank you very much," said President Prabowo.
After welcoming him, Prabowo left the Paya Widd Air Base to continue his journey to the hotel where the Head of State was staying during the visit.
Accompanying the President on this visit, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a number of important agendas today, Monday, June 16. The Head of State will be officially welcomed at a state ceremony by Singapore's President, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, which will be held at the Singapore Parliament House.
The state ceremony also marked the close diplomatic relations between the two countries. In addition, in a series of visits, President Prabowo will also make a soft call with President Tharman.
