Qualcomm Launches AI Research Center In Vietnam

JAKARTA - A semiconductor company from the United States, Qualcomm, officially launched an artificial intelligence research and development center (R&D) in Vietnam. This was revealed by the company on Wednesday, June 11.

In a statement, Qualcomm explained that researchers at this center will focus on developing generating and agentic AI solutions for various devices and sectors, including smartphones, personal computers, XR (extended reality), automotive, and the IoT (Internet of Things) application.

Qualcomm stated that this step is in line with Vietnam's national strategy in the fields of AI, semiconductor, and digital transformation. The R&D center will also prioritize technology transfer, ecosystem collaboration, and the development of human resource capacity in the field of high technology.

In a meeting in Hanoi on the same day, To Lam, Vietnam's supreme leader, encouraged Qualcomm to continue to expand its investment in the country, including in the semiconductor and digital infrastructure fields.
