3 Perpetrators Of Threats With Sharp Weapons In Mahakam River Arrested By Police

SAMARINDA - Samarinda City Police (Polresta), East Kalimantan, arrested three perpetrators of threats using sharp weapons in the waters of the Mahakam River, Samarinda City, East Kalimantan.

"This is the result of the work of the Water and Air Police Unit (Satpolairud) which was revealed from the incident that occurred on top of Tongkang BG DIAMON 2703 which was moored at the Karang Asam location, Samarinda, on Monday (2/6) at around 16.00 WITA," said Deputy Chief of Samarinda Police AKBP Heri Rusyaman as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 4.

"The three perpetrators we have secured are AR (35), AA (40), and SI (28)," said Heri.

The chronology of the incident began when the reporter, MR (45), was contacted by the captain of the TB Bluefin 10 ship to collect mooring services. MR and his colleague, JN, approached the ship using a motorboat.

While waiting for the mooring service in the form of filling a jerry can of diesel fuel, the three perpetrators came asking the ship's captain for oil.

Knowing this, MR reprimanded SI perpetrators because they did not have the ship's landing services.

Not accepting the reprimand, SI immediately strangled MR from behind while holding Badik. Meanwhile, AR took a machete and pointed it in front of MR.

Seeing the incident, MR's colleague with the initials DW tried to intervene and took a machete on the boat to direct it to AR.

Panic, AR chased DW who then jumped into the river to save himself. At the same time, DW saw AA brandishing a machete at him.

After getting a jerry can of diesel fuel from the crew of the TB Bluefin 10, SI returned to the boat and left with AA and AR. Before leaving, AA had threatened the crew of the ship not to take photos or videos.

Then, the crew reported the incident to the Airud Police on the same day by providing information along with evidence that they had fingerprinted.

On the evening, the three perpetrators were immediately arrested by the police in the Kledang and Palaran rivers, Samarinda.

From the hands of the perpetrators, the police confiscated a number of pieces of evidence, including an orange ketinting boat and its engine, a badik bar (29 cm), a machete (46 cm), a machete (55 cm) and a sarong, and a jerry can containing 35 liters of diesel fuel.

The perpetrator was charged with Article 2 Paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 concerning Sharp Weapons, with the threat of imprisonment of up to 10 years.
