Flood Rob Soak 200 Houses In Pluit, Air Capai 60 Cm
JAKARTA - Hundreds of houses located in 12 RT/RW 22 Pluit Village, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta, were flooded by tidal floods or coastal flooding on Wednesday, May 28 in the morning.
"This flood occurred due to high tide and submerged 200 houses in RW 22 with water levels from 40 to 60 centimeters (cm)," said DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (TRC BPBD) Rapid Response Team officer Erda Wednesday morning.
He said this flood had risen to residential areas since 23.00 WIB and is currently starting to recede.
According to him, this tidal flood is predicted to occur until May 31, 2025 and the peak of the water level reaches 60 cm.
"This flood is caused by a "suprmoon" phenomenon that causes sea water to rise and enter this area," he said.
In addition to submerging residential areas, he added, the tidal flood also submerged a number of roads in Muara Angke.
Residents also admitted that they could only surrender to this salt water flood that had occurred since a few days ago.
"It's been a third day of flooding and we can only surrender," said one resident of RW 22 Muara Angke, Warsinah.
He hopes that the government can immediately complete the construction of the giant sea embankment (Giant Sea Wall), so that sea water no longer enters and inundates residential areas when the tide occurs.
"There must be a wall behind there. High sea water comes here and floods. We are tired of flooding all the time," he said.
Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial BPBD reminded people on the coast of Jakarta to be aware of tidal flooding due to the phenomenon of "suprmoons" from May 24-31 May 2025.
"Be aware of the supermoon phenomenon from May 24 to 31, 2025. Always protect the environment around so that the garbage in the area is not inundated and becomes a source of disease," said Head of Disaster Data and Information Processing Unit, DKI Jakarta BPBD, Kristian Gottam Marudut Sihombing in Jakarta, Tuesday.
He said the natural phenomenon of "suprmoons" will have a huge impact on the ups and downs of the water.

The "suprmoson" is when the moon looks closer and bigger than usual. Usually occurs when the moon is higher than the earth, covering the Earth's surface. The time of occurrence of this phenomenon in a year is unpredictable.
The main impact of "suprmoons" is an increase in sea level, which can cause tidal flooding in coastal areas.
Tidal floods can cause damage to infrastructure and economic losses as well as casualties for people in coastal areas.
