Microbiologist Reveals Healthy Bath Time, Morning Or Night?

JAKARTA Bathing is an important part of self-cleaning which is done almost every day. However, the question of many people is that it is better to take a morning or evening shower. This question remains a matter of debate until now. Now, a microbiologist spoke up and gave a quite surprising scientific explanation.

According to clinical microbiologist Primrose Freestone at Leicester University, both times have their own benefits, but the morning shower actually offers its own advantages, especially in terms of microbiological cleanliness.

The bath helps remove dirt, oil, and sweat from the skin, all of which can be breeding ground for bacteria, explained the microbiologist, quoted from the CNA page.

He also added that the body's smell does not actually come from sweat, but from bacteria that live on the surface of the skin.

"The fresh memory is odorless. But when bacteria, especially staphylocacici, break sweat, they produce sulfur compounds called thioalcohols. That's the main source of body odor," he said.

For night bath lovers, their reasons are strong enough. Bath after a day of activity helps remove dust, pollution, and allergen from the body before bed.

"Boxing at night can indeed reduce the number of particles and sweat that are carried onto the sheets and pillows," he said.

"However, taking a night bath doesn't necessarily make your body clean until morning, because you stay sweating while sleeping and bacteria will still actively break sweat all night," he added.

Furthermore, he reminded that if sheets are not washed frequently, then microbes that accumulate in bed can move to a clean body. On the other hand, the morning shower turns out to have its own advantages that are often overlooked.

"Boxing in the morning can remove the remaining sweat and bacteria collected during sleep," he said.

He emphasized that the morning bath makes the body better prepared to wear clean clothes and face daily activities.

"Do a morning shower, you start the day with fresher body conditions with lower bacterial levels. This helps prevent body odors throughout the day," he explained.

For this reason, the expert firmly said, "As a microbiologist, I am a supporter of the morning shower."

Despite the choice of bath time, he emphasized the importance of washing sheets regularly.

"If you don't wash the sheets at least once a week, then you're sleeping on top of a mixture of dead skin cells, oil, sweat, and microbes. It's not just disgusting, but it can also trigger allergies and exacerbate asthma," he added.

Bathing at night and morning each has its own benefits. However, if you want the body to be cleaner and fresher longer, and reduce the risk of body odor, then taking a morning shower is a recommended choice from the scientific side.

"Bathing time is a personal choice. But cleanliness is not only a matter of time, but also about other habits such as washing sheets regularly. That is equally important," he concluded.
