Son Heung-Min Won't Get A Medal After Champion Of The Europa League

JAKARTA - Son Heung-Min was among Tottenham Hotspur players who did not get the winner medal during the award ceremony for the Europa League champions on Thursday, May 22, 2025, early morning WIB.

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin looked surprised when the medal ran out before all Tottenham players accepted it after a 1-0 win over Manchester United.

UEFA later said the problem occurred as Tottenham sent too many people to receive their medals during the ceremony.

The European Football Confederation added the two clubs had been notified that only 30 medals would be awarded on stage to each club.

UEFA further said that 20 medals were awarded to Spurs after the ceremony to be distributed to players and staff.

Son, who lifted the trophy in front of his teammates at the award ceremony, was among the few players who did not receive his medal on the pitch.

Meanwhile, the 2024/2025 Europa League title was Tottenham's first major title since 2008.
