NPC Indonesia Targets To Get 3 Gold Medals At The 2028 Paralympics
JAKARTA The National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia (NPC Indonesia) has set a target of getting three gold medals at the 2028 Paralympics which will take place in Los Angeles, United States.
The target was conveyed by the Chairman of the Indonesian NPC, Senny Marbun, when opening a national working meeting (Rakernas) at the Lorin Solo Hotel Ballroom, Karanganyar, Central Java, on Monday, May 19, 2025, WIB night.
"Hopefully God will give us permission to get three golds at the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics," said Senny Marbun in a statement received.
Currently, Indonesia's NPC is holding talent search events throughout Indonesia to pursue this target. The activity has been running in six provinces and will continue this year.

In that process, the talent scouting team will provide recommendations to prospective athletes to pursue sports that match their potential and classification.
Later, there will be some athletes who will be fostered by the regions and some will be brought by the Indonesian NPC to train at the Indonesian Paralympic Training Center (PPPI) in Delingan, Karanganyar Regency.
"Through this National Working Meeting, I convey what we will do this year so that they can return to their area for socialization and collaboration with local governments so that athletes in their regions can live," said Senny.
Ten sports that previously managed to pass their athletes to the Paris 2024 Paralympics have now undergone a training camp in Surakarta. That includes badminton sports that regularly win gold medals.
Badminton is still the main hope at the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics. The reason is, in the last two editions of the Paralympics, the sport managed to give three gold medals.
When at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, the gold medal was presented by the women's doubles pair SL3-SU5 Leani Ratri Oktila/Khalimatus Sadiyah and the mixed doubles pair SL3-SU5 Hary Susanto/Leani Ratri Oktila.
As for the 2024 Paris Paralympics, Leani Ratri Oktila again presented a gold medal through the SL3-SU5 mixed doubles number. In that number, he played with his partner Hikmat Ramdani.
Senny said that the other two sports that are expected to get gold in Los Angeles later are athletics and weightlifting.
"Hopefully we can. Therefore, I really intend to find new athletes through talent search events in all provinces. So, we can get a lot of athletes," said Senny.
