Microsoft Launches Discovery: AI Agent Platform To Accelerate Research And Development

JAKARTA - At the Microsoft Build 2025 event, Microsoft announced the launch of a new AI agent platform called Microsoft Discovery to help companies accelerate research and development (R&D).

Microsoft Discovery will allow researchers to collaborate with a special AI agent team combined with graph-based knowledge machines, to drive scientific results at speed, scale, and accuracy.

We have designed Microsoft Discovery to be very easy to develop, which allows researchers to integrate the latest Microsoft innovations with their own models, tools, and datasets, said Asseem Datar, Vice President, Microsoft Product Innovation.

Built on Microsoft Azure, this new Microsoft platform allows responsible innovations, so that researchers remain in control. So that trust, compliance, transparency, and customer governance are maintained.

"At Microsoft, we want to strengthen scientists' efforts to start a new era of accelerating discovery and expanding the research horizon," he added.

In addition to Microsoft Azure, the AI agent platform is also built on Microsoft Copilot which will act as the scientific AI assistant managing these special agents on the research request.

Thus, Microsoft Discovery allowed the R&D team to expand the platform catalog by presenting their selected devices to meet more specific research needs.

The tech giant has also teamed up with a number of leading customers interested in joint innovation in various industries including chemicals and materials, silicon design, energy, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals.

We are also working with a broad partner base that builds a platform to drive this acceleration, and we are very excited. The possibility is unlimited because we are aware of the full potential of AI in R&D and we are just getting started," he concluded.
