Young People Often Do This Trivial Habit Can Increase The Risk Of Heart Disease
JAKARTA - A recent study reveals habits that are often taken lightly, even though it can increase the risk of sesaoroh having heart disease. This habit is a lack of sleep, especially at night.
Many major studies have been carried out regarding the relationship between sleep shortages and the risk of cardiovascular disease generally focus on older individuals who already have increased risk of the disease, said study leader Dr. Jonathan Cedernaes, a lecturer at Uppsala University in Sweden, quoted from Science Alert, on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
In the study, it was studied about the side effects of sleep shortages in young people. sixteen healthy young people with good sleep habits were asked to visit the laboratory in the study.
In one session, participants get a normal amount of sleep for three consecutive nights. While in the other session, they only get about four hours of sleep overnight.
During the two sessions, blood samples in the morning and evening were taken for research. This research was also followed by high intensity training which lasted 30 minutes.

The researchers measured a level of about 90 proteins in the blood and could see that levels of many proteins were associated with increased inflammation when participants lacked sleep. Many of these proteins are attributed to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease such as heart failure andtegery disease.
With the results of the study, researchers emphasize that sleep is very influential on cardiovascular health. Physical exercise is also needed to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
With this study, we have improved our understanding of the role of the number of sleeps we get in cardiovascular health. It is important to note that research also shows that physical exercise can offset at least some of the negative effects that can be caused by sleep shortages, "concluded Cederneas.
