Saudi Arabia Launches "Humain" Companies To Develop Artificial Intelligence Technology

JAKARTA Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has officially launched a new company called Humain, which will focus on the development and management of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

The company is under the control of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), a Saudi Arabia state wealth fund agency, Saudi state news agency SPA reported on Monday, May 12.

Humain will provide a variety of AI-based services and products, including the latest generation data center, AI infrastructure, cloud computing capabilities (cloud), as well as advanced AI models and solutions. One of Humain's main focuses is the development of a large language model in Arabic multimodal which is claimed to be one of the strongest in the world.

This launch is part of Saudi Arabia's ambitious vision to establish itself as a global center of data and artificial intelligence. This initiative also reflects Saudi Arabia's long-term strategy to diversify the economy outside the oil and gas sector.

"With Humain, Saudi Arabia wants to be a pioneer in AI technology, especially in the Arabic ecosystem which has been underrepresented in the development of a major global language model," said a report from the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Humain will be led directly by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as chairman of the council. This launch adds to the list of strategic investments made by PIF in the global technology sector, having previously invested in electric vehicles, games, and other future technologies.

With strong financial support from PIF and the technology infrastructure that continues to be developed, Humain is expected to be able to compete globally and become the backbone of the development of Arabic-based AI solutions.
