Golkar Installs Body! The Issue Of Gibran's Impeachment Is Called Unreasonable

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Golkar Party DPP, Muhammad Sarmuji, emphasized that there is no constitutional basis for the impeachment of Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka. He stated that Gibran was legally elected through the 2024 presidential election and received legitimacy from the majority of the Indonesian people.

"Mas Gibran was elected constitutionally through the presidential and vice presidential elections, supported by 58% of the Indonesian people, and ratified by the Constitutional Court," Sarmuji told the media after the National Leadership Conference (Muspinas) III Kosgoro 1957 at the Sultan Hotel, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, May 7 evening.

This statement was conveyed by Sarmuji in response to the issue of Gibran's impeachment which had surfaced in a number of public forums. Sarmuji added that Gibran did not violate the law which could be used as the basis for impeachment.

"Until now, there is no constitutional loophole to impeach Mas Gibran," he said.

Meanwhile, the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Bahlil Lahadalia, emphasized that his party was focused on overseeing the Prabowo-Gibran government until 2029.

"The main program of the Golkar Party is to guard the Prabowo-Gibran government until it is finished. As a party that nominates and wins this pair, we must guard them completely," said Bahlil.

Furthermore, Bahlil emphasized that the Golkar Party's political target was an increase in the number of seats in Senayan. Bahlil also stated that he was not interested in running as a presidential or vice presidential candidate in the 2029 presidential election.

Sarmuji's statement regarding the issue of Gibran's impeachment, which has no legal basis, and Golkar's commitment to supporting Prabowo-Gibran reinforces the solidity of the party bearing the banyan tree logo in supporting the current government.
