Anies Is Considered To Have Started Using The Remaining Tenure To Raise Support For The 2024 Presidential Election
JAKARTA - The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, has recently been diligent in conducting direct cooperation in the procurement of food and other matters. There has been speculation that Anies is starting to seek support for the 2024 Presidential Election.
A political observer from the Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO), Dedi Kurnia Syah, agrees with this allegation. Dedi assessed that Anies began to use the remaining term of office as the number one person in DKI before the 2024 presidential election.
"You could say, Anies is taking advantage of the one and a half years before he stepped down to cultivate sympathy for the 2024 contestation's interests by using his privilege as the governor of DKI", said Dedi when contacted by VOI, Thursday, April 29.
The election is still three years away. Calculating time may be too early to think politically. It's just that, according to Dedi, gathering popularity takes a long time.
"Moreover, the period for the governor of DKI Jakarta will end in 2022, while the new Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) will be held in 2024. Anies needs time from now to increase electability", he said.
