The Disclosure Of A Fake Money Factory In Bogor Starting From The Finding Of A Bag At Tanah Abang Station

The disclosure of a syndicate of counterfeit money makers and dealers in Bogor City, West Java, began with the discovery of a suspicious bag left on the electric train (KRL) to Rangkas Bitung. The bag was found at Tanah Abang Station, Central Jakarta.

Tanah Abang Metro Police Chief, Kompol Haris Akhmad Basuki, explained that the officers initially suspected the contents of the bag left by the passenger. Officers then waited for the bag owner to come to pick it up. After a person with the initials MS (45) appeared and claimed the bag, the officer was involved in a debate with him because he refused to reveal the contents of the bag.

"After being forcibly opened, MS admitted that the bag contained counterfeit bills of Rp. 100,000, with a total of Rp. 316 million," said Haris on Thursday, April 10.

From MS's confession, the police then developed an investigation. The next day, two other people, BI (50) and E (42), were arrested at a hotel in the Mangga Besar area. From them, the police confiscated additional counterfeit money worth Rp451 million.

The investigation continues. On Tuesday, April 8, two other suspects who acted as dealers, BS (40) and BBU (42), were also arrested. Then on Wednesday, April 9, a 70-year-old man with the initials AY, who is suspected of being an intermediary, was arrested in Subang, West Java.

At its peak, the police raided a house in the Griya Melati Housing area, Bubulak Village, West Bogor, which turned out to be a place to print counterfeit money. At that location, DS as the counterfeit money printer was successfully secured. The house used as the headquarters is known to belong to LB, who was also arrested during the operation.

"A total of eight people we managed to secure, each of whom has a different role in this network," said Haris.

The raid process for the counterfeit money factory in Bogor was led directly by the Tanah Abang Criminal Investigation Unit, Kompol M. Malau, with the support of members of the TNI from Kodim 0606/Bogor City. The operation was carried out on Wednesday morning, April 9 at around 06.00 WIB.

AKP Aji Riznaldi, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bogor City Police, confirmed that his party had also backed up the raid process carried out by the Tanah Abang Police.
