ROV MV Swift Rescue From Singapore Lifted The Hydrophone Of The KRI Nanggala-402

JAKARTA - Asrena, Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Admiral Muhammad Ali said that the search team for KRI Nanggala-402 had found the submarine's hydrophone.

He said the hydrophone or underwater sound recording device belonging to KRI Nanggala-402 had been lifted using the MV Swift Rescue's Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) from Singapore.

"Our latest update has found the hydrophone of the KRI Nanggala submarine using the ROV", Ali said in a press conference, Tuesday, April 27.

In addition, this ROV also took a number of photos showing the discovery of a German-made submarine cargo torpedo. "Then some photos were taken, then the torpedo was found and it will be updated as much as possible and we will lift the pieces as much as possible", he said.

The reason for the lifting can only be done little by little is because the ROV of the MV Swift Rescue can only lift a load of 150 kilograms.

Meanwhile, regarding the evacuation from the ship, Ali said there were a number of methods that could be used depending on the position of the ship. The more you are in the position of KRI Nanggala-402, the more difficult it will be for the lifting process.

"The method of lifting varies depending on the depth of the ship's position. This greatly affects the difficulty level of the ship", he said.

Ali explained, the method used to evacuate the KRI Nanggala 402 was one of them using a hot air balloon.

"Lifting the KRI Nanggala can be done by stabbing it, using a hot air balloon, using a hose connected to the main ballast tank so that the water inside the ship is discharged", he said.

Ali also said that the appointment of the KRI Nanggala-402 could also be compared to the evacuation operation of the Russian Navy Kurs submarine. Because the ship lifting operation is fairly complicated and costs a lot of money.

"The Russian experience of lifting the Kurks also asked for outside help. That was Russian", he said.

As previously reported, the National Army (TNI) Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto on the fifth day of the search or on Sunday, April 25, announced that 53 soldiers on board the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine were declared dead in their duties.

The announcement was made after the search team found a number of authentic pieces of evidence that showed the KRI Nanggala-402 sank at a depth of 838 meters and the hull of the ship was split into three parts.

The ship is actually scheduled to have a missile firing exercise in the Bali Sea scheduled for Thursday, April 22. This exercise will be witnessed by the TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto and Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff Laksamana Yudho Margono.

Technically, the KRI Nanggala-402 comes from the Type 209/1300 which was made by the Howaldtswerke shipyard in Kiel, West Germany in 1979, and entered active service in 1981.

The propulsion system of the KRI Nanggala-402 consists of a low-speed Siemens diesel-electric motor whose labor is directly channeled to the propeller at the stern.

The thrust strength is 5.000 shp (shaft horse power), while the electric batteries weighing about 25 percent of the gross weight of the ship store electric power. Four supercharged MTU diesel engines are responsible for supplying the ship's electric power.
