Minister Of Social Affairs: 53 People's Schools Inaugurated In The New Academic Year

JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos), Saifullah Yusuf stated that until now there are 53 units of People's Schools that are ready to be built and inaugurated in the coming new school year.

"Proposals from provinces, regencies, cities continue to increase, already more than 200, both in the form of buildings and in the form of vacant land," said Saifullah Yusuf after submitting a report to President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Monday, March 24, reported by ANTRA.

Of this number, 53 units are currently ready for use, most of which are assets belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs. In addition, there are currently 82 other locations that are in the initial assessment stage.

"Both buildings and land that are ready to be utilized through a little renovation or new development in 2025, now there are 82 who are in the process of being assessed by the Ministry of Public Works," he said.

In terms of educators, the recruitment plan for teachers has been finalized, with the Task Force led by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen). Meanwhile, the curriculum has been carefully designed by the Ministry of Higher Education (Kemendikdasmen) and the Ministry of Education.

For student data collection, the Ministry of Social Affairs cooperates with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) to identify poor and extreme poor families in locations that are targets for the establishment of the People's School.

According to the Minister of Social Affairs, this data will be a reference in determining the number of students who will attend school.

Regarding the source of funding, the man who is familiarly called Gus Ipul emphasized that this program was funded through the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

"The infrastructure arena that will be built is PU, not the Ministry of Social Affairs," he said.

In the initial stage, the construction of schools will use more existing buildings with additional renovations and expansion of the room.

Furthermore, in 2025, several points will begin to build new schools according to the prototypes designed for long-term needs, Gus Ipul added.
