Traffic Engineering Police In Malioboro Yogyakarta Welcomes Eid Homecoming 2025

JAKARTA - The Yogyakarta City Police Traffic Unit (Satlantas) has prepared three traffic engineering schemes to anticipate a surge in vehicle volume in the Malioboro area and its surroundings during the 2025 Eid holiday period.

Head of the Traffic Unit (Satlantas) of the Yogyakarta Police, Adjunct Commissioner of Police Alvian Hidayat, explained that traffic engineering will be carried out in stages according to the level of vehicle volume density.

"We have made an escalation stage. When conditions are normal or traffic is below 500 vehicles per hour, the flow remains as usual," he said in Yogyakarta, Monday, March 24, which was confiscated by Antara.

However, if the volume of vehicles increases between 500 and 1,000 units per hour, the yellow signature will be installed as a warning that traffic engineering will be implemented immediately.

One of the first steps to engineering is the diversion of vehicle flows at the Klasing intersection to the Kridosono Stadium.

"Hopefully the vehicle can rotate first and not directly lead to the Mataram intersection," said Alvian.

This step was taken to avoid traffic jams, especially at vulnerable points, such as the intersection of Jalan Mataram and Pasar Kembang.

Meanwhile, if the number of vehicles exceeds 1,000 per hour, traffic engineering will be fully enforced. Vehicles from Jalan Mataram will be directed directly to Malioboro, while vehicles from Kleringan can only access the Kembang Market and cannot enter Malioboro directly.

"So, later the one from Kleringan going to Malioboro will turn first," he said.

Facing these conditions, Alvian ensured that his party had alerted a team to solve the area.

The police also appealed to the public not to park their vehicles carelessly, especially along Jalan Pasar Kembang which already has a sign of a ban on parking.

"Don't use road media where there are signs of a parking ban for parking activities," said Alvian.

To support the smooth running of traffic, the Yogyakarta City Transportation Service has also prepared two additional parking bags at the Amongrogo Sports Hall and Mandala Krida Stadium.

However, the Head of the Yogyakarta City Transportation Agency, Agus Arif Nugroho, said that the Amongrogo GOR would be a top priority.

"For people who want to enjoy Malioboro in the period 2 to 7 April 2025, please park in Amonggrogo first. If it is full, then it is directed to Mandala Krida," said Agus.
