70-Year-Old Farmers In Semarang Night In Full Lakes Of Eceng Gondok Due To Extreme Weather Evacuated

JAKARTA - The SAR team evacuated Marjono (70), an incandescent seeker who was trapped in extreme weather in the field of Lake Rawapening, Semarang Regency, Central Java.

Head of the Semarang Basarnas Office, Budiono, said that the resident of Tuntang, Semarang Regency, was trapped overnight in the middle of a gondok hyacinth field that was swept away by the water current.

He explained that the incident began when the victim was looking for a hyacinth on Monday, March 17 afternoon.

At the same time, he said, strong winds hit the Rawapening Lake area, causing the boat and the hyacinth to be carried away by the current.

"The victim's boat was caught in the middle of a hyacinth, so it couldn't move," he said in Semarang, Tuesday, March 18, which was confiscated by Antara.

The victim then asked the angler around the location for help.

However, according to him, bad weather prevented residents who were asked for help from being able to provide assistance.

He said the victim was found trapped overnight in the middle of Rawapening.

The SAR team that was deployed found the victim on a boat about 200 meters from the starting point of the incident.

The thick collection of hyacinth, he continued, had made it difficult to save the SAR team boat due to not being able to get closer to the victim's position.

SAR officers, he said, then carried out the rescue by swimming across the garden of the hyacinth in Rawapening.
