JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anindya N. Bakrie stated that the Belitung Island's Geopark can be used as a barometer for determining the special economic zone (KEK) of Bangka Island, Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
"The Belitung Geopark set by UNESCO is extraordinary and Babel (Bangka Belitung) will certainly be recognized more by the world," said Anindya N. Bakrie after inspecting the construction site for the Babel Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Pangkalpinang, as quoted from Antara, Monday, April 26.
He said that the determination of Belitung Island as a Tourism SEZ as a geopark by UNESCO on April 22, 2021, was not only a barometer but also a pioneer in determining the SEZ on Bangka Island which the Babel Islands Provincial Government was fighting for.
"I think there will be more KEKs in Bangka Belitung and will not be inferior to other provinces in Indonesia," he said.
According to him, the Belitung Geopark can also be the spearhead for Indonesia in introducing tourism potential in the international world.
"The Belitung Geopark is cool and very good for the government in advancing the tourism sector in increasing world tourist visits," he said.
