Joshua Kimmich Signs New Contract With Bayern Munich Until 2029

JAKARTA - The defending midfielder Bayern Munich, Joshua Kimmich, has signed a contract extension until 2029.

The good news was announced by the Bundesliga leader on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Kimmich joins his teammates, Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies, with a new long-term deal.

Speculation about Kimmich's deal has been circulating for weeks, with the player being the main transfer target for Europe's top clubs.

"At FC Bayern, I have the best environment to achieve my sporting goals. That is the basis of my decision."

"For me right now, there are no packages of team-mates, coaching staff, and the club's better environment to achieve maximum success. I feel at home here and I'm not finished yet," said the German international.

The 30-year-old versatile player, who joined Bayern a decade ago and as comfortable as a full-back and defensive midfielder, has won eight Bundesliga titles, Champions League, and Club World Cup titles among other trophies.

"Bayern need players who not only carry out their duties, but also responsibilities - on and off the field. Joshua Kimmich is one of these players," said Bayern Munich President Herbert Hainer.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are eight points ahead of defending champion Bayer Leverkusen who is in second place in the Bundesliga 2024/2025 standings.

They are also in the Champions League quarter-finals and will face Inter Milan in April 2025.
