Foreign Minister Sugiono: We Must Continue To Work Together To Create A Better World

JAKARTA - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono called for cooperation to create a better world, when holding iftar with diplomats from around the world at the Pancasila Building, Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, Thursday.

Titled 'Pejambon Ifthar', Foreign Minister Sugiono hosted ambassadors of friendly countries and representatives of international organizations in Indonesia.

The gathering event, which was attended by more than 100 invitations from the diplomatic corps and international organizations, was also a place to strengthen togetherness in the Holy Month of Ramadan.

In his remarks, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Sugiono emphasized that Ramadan is a moment of reflection and togetherness that strengthens relations between nations.

"Pejambon Ifthar is not just a iftar event, but also a forum for dialogue and exchanging views in a warm and informal atmosphere," said Foreign Minister Sugiono, in a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on March 13.

Foreign Minister Sugiono further said he hoped that this moment could further strengthen the relations that had been established among the diplomatic corps.

In breaking the fast this time, Foreign Minister Sugiono also emphasized the importance of renewing shared commitments in facing global challenges.

"We must continue to work together to create a better world," said Foreign Minister Sugiono.

Pejambon Ifthar this year presented the Secretary General of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion Professor Kamaruddin Amin as a lecturer ahead of breaking the fast.

"Indonesia has successfully managed its religion because of the highly religious Pancasila ideology. Indonesia is not only a democratic country, but also a religious one," he said.

The time for breaking the fast arrived, the call to prayer reverberated at the Pancasila Building with the permission of the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta to call prayers. Foreign Minister Sugiono, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir, Arif Havas Oegroseno, Anis Matta and ambassadors and representatives of international organizations also broke the fast together, reflecting the spirit of unity and solidarity across the nation.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the 2025 Pejambon Ifthar is a moment to strengthen relations, strengthen a sense of togetherness, and strengthen commitments in facing shared challenges.
