The Indonesian National Team Calls 15 Men's Volleyball Players To Prepare For The U-21 Volleyball World Championship

JAKARTA The Central Board of the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PP PBVSI) summoned 15 male volleyball players to prepare for the 2025 U-21 World Volleyball Championship in China.

Deputy Head of PBVSI Development and Achievement, Loudry Maspaitella, said that most of the names called were players who last year appeared at the U-20 Asian Championships in Surabaya.

"However, there is something new as well. The player who is called is a player who plays in Proliga (2025) with Jakarta Garuda Jaya," he said in an official statement from PBVSI.

The players who are called will undergo a national training camp (pelatnas) starting March 16, 2025 at the General Police Kunarto Volleyball Padepokan, Sentul, Bogor, West Java.

They will train under the guidance of coach Li Qiujian. The tactician from China in carrying out his duties was assisted by Anwar Sadat, Nur Widayanto, and Dodi Ardiansyah.

The 2025 U-21 Men's Volleyball World Championships will take place in Jiangmen, China, on 21-31 August 2025. The 23rd edition of the tournament will be attended by 24 teams.

This number increased by eight from the previous editions which were only attended by 16 teams. The addition of the team follows the decision taken by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) in June 2023.

In addition to the home team and defending champions who automatically qualify, 20 other teams get tickets through five separate continental competitions which must be held no later than December 31, 2024.

The remaining two teams will enter the tournament through the men's U-21 world rankings FIVB (as of December 31, 2024) among the teams that have not passed.
