Elon Musk Wants Humans To Be Multi-Planet Creatures
JAKARTA - Elon Musk plans to turn humans into multi-planet creatures. So, humans do not only live on one planet as they are today. Musk's goal is to avoid the mass extinction that might occur in the future. The Tesla and SpaceX boss also focuses on building a civilization on Mars.
After SpaceX launched Crew 2 into low Earth orbit, Musk said that he would allow humans to live on other planets.
"We don't want to be one species on a single planet, we want to be a multi-planet species", Musk said as quoted by CNBC International, Saturday, April 24.
The boss of the space rocket company SpaceX also revealed his vision to establish a city on Mars and on the Moon. He wanted humans to have a permanent base on the Moon before building a city on Mars and turning humans into multi-planet creatures.
“It's been half a century since humans were on the Moon. That's too long, we need to go back there and have a permanent experience on the Moon, like a large permanent base on the Moon. And build a city on Mars to build a space civilization, a multi-planet species", he said.
To realize this plan, Musk has designed the Starship rocket which is made of stainless steel material. The Starship prototype itself has a size of 150 feet as high as a 15-story building. The rocket is also equipped with a Raptor engine.

Starship is designed to transport humans to the Moon and Mars. For the design of the Starship rocket, Musk himself is predicted to spend as much as USD 5 billion. However, SpaceX never disclosed the amount of money spent on the project.
“(Starship) has so far been internally funded and very expensive. As you know, if you look at the video, we made a number of mistakes", said the boss of SpaceX.
SpaceX has conducted various trials. Although the test launch of the prototype version of the Starship rocket ended in four explosions in four flights, SpaceX did not stop and continued testing until it accomplished its mission.
