Iran Confirms It Has Not Received Letter From The President Of The United States
JAKARTA - The Iranian government has reiterated that it has not received a letter from United States President Donald Trump, days after claiming to have sent the letter to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said at a press conference on Monday that Iran had not received any letter from the US President, quoted from IRNA March 10.
Earlier, President Trump in an interview on Friday claimed to have sent a letter to Ayatollah Khamenei, proposing to negotiate with Iran on a new deal.
"I said I hope you will negotiate, because it will be much better for Iran," President Trump said in an interview with Fox Business Network broadcast on Friday.
"I think they want to get the letter. Another alternative is that we have to do something, because you can't let other nuclear weapons go," Trump continued.
Iran responded by saying it had not received the letter, reaffirming its position not to negotiate with Washington under pressure.
