Rejecting The Proposal Of Education Funds For PSU, Minister Of Home Affairs Tito: Don't, It Can't Be Disturbed

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian rejected the proposed mandatory education funds to be used for the implementation of the re-voting or PSU Pilkada. The Minister of Home Affairs emphasized that the implementation of the PSU will still be financed by the APBD.

"Don't. In my efficiency letter, it is clear that education, mandatory health, infrastructure should not be disturbed," said Tito at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, March 10.

According to the Minister of Home Affairs, each region must reduce unnecessary budgets as an efficiency step. Meanwhile, the education, health and infrastructure budgets should not be contested.

"We are also investigating the health education (budget), not only 20 percent, 10 percent yes. But then when the execution was not efficient,"

Instead of reducing the mandatory education and health budget, said Tito, it is better to cut operational budgets such as procuring programs or projects.

"What are the kinds of projects, there are violations of various kinds or something that doesn't need to be done. Some are more urgent, improving schools, toilets for teachers, to help scholarships, for example, (education budgets) Do not. (Scaping) Procurement projects are unnecessary," said Tito.

"Most of the portion of operational spending, especially the interests of the employees themselves," he continued.

Previously, a member of Commission II of the DPR RI from the Gerindra faction, Longki Djanggola, submitted his proposal that the re-voting or PSU Pilkada could be held using compulsory education funds. According to him, the proposal is to ease the budget burden of the PSU Pilkada which has been launched.

"Perhaps the Minister's advice is to ease the way for you to find funds to decide on this fund, perhaps another way that might be taken to give authority, discretion to the regions to use mandatory funds, such as a 20 percent education budget and 10 percent health," said Longki during a working meeting of Commission II DPR RI with Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, KPU to Bawaslu at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Monday, March 10.

Longki assessed that his proposal needed to be considered by the government. Because, according to him, discretion for the use of education funds can ease the KPU's implementation of PSU.

"I think it needs to be considered as long as it is handled with the Minister's policy," he said.

However, his proposal was immediately rejected by the Minister of Home Affairs. He emphasized that the government would not use mandatory funds, such as education for the PSU title.

"I'm sorry Mr. Longki, we will not sacrifice the mandatory sir, the education, health, infrastructure. Now that's a direct impact on the community, sir," said Tito.
