Landslide at Cemetery in Cileunyi, Bandung

BANDUNG - The Public Cemetery (TPU) located next to the Cileunyi District Office, Bandung Regency experienced a landslide.

Head of Emergency and Logistics for the Bandung Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Beny Sonjaya, explained that the landslide occurred at around 17:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

"The incident occurred in front of the TPU. The wall that collapsed was four to five meters high and 10 meters long," said Beny as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 6.

As a result of the landslide, the access road to the housing complex next to the TPU and the Cileunyi District Office was closed.

From the temporary data he obtained, Beny said that there were two graves that collapsed due to the landslide due to high rainfall at the location.

"But right now we are assessing again and cleaning it up," he said.

Currently, Bandung Regency BPBD officers have been deployed and coordination with the Bandung Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency has been built to immediately carry out the evacuation.

"With heavy equipment, it could be finished in a matter of hours," he said.

From the video received by ANTARA, several officers were seen checking the location and preparing to evacuate the landslide location with soil covering almost the entire road.

Until this news was written, there had been no reports of casualties from the landslide at the TPU.
