The Minister Of Social Affairs EMPHASIZED That People's Schools Free Education For The Poor Category

JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf seeks that the People's School program intended for poor families can start operating in the 2025/2026 Academic Year

He explained that the People's School will be present to provide free and quality education for groups of poor people, especially those in the extreme poor category.

"The point is hopefully this year the implementation of the People's School can begin. First of all, I repeat that this is for poor families, especially extreme poor," said the Minister of Social Affairs at a press conference at the Salemba Ministry of Social Affairs Building, Jakarta on Wednesday, March 5, which was confiscated by Antara.

The presence of the People's School aims to break the chain of poverty while at the same time encouraging groups of people in the poor category to be empowered and can play a significant role through education.

The Minister of Social Affairs also added that the school will be in the form of a boarding school or boarding school consisting of elementary, junior high to high school and vocational education levels.

Meanwhile, on the same occasion, the former Minister of Education and Culture for the 2009-2014 period as well as the Head of the Formatur Team for the Implementation of the People's School Mohammad Nuh said the initial facilities for the implementation of the People's School would use the infrastructure belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs.

As for the provision of teachers and curriculum, he said that the implementation of People's Schools collaborates with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) and the Ministry of Higher Education for Science and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek).

Nuh also added that the implementation of the People's School will use a special curriculum that combines the national curriculum with other curricula which are currently still in the discussion stage.

"The Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Education and Technology will prepare very special teachers, because this school is a very special school, we will also develop a special curriculum because they are boarding, as well as governance," he said.

He hopes that the presence of the People's School can provide quality free education, on target and measurable for the poor.
