Pramono Calls 90 Percent Of Jakarta Floods Currently Due To Shipments From Hulu

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said that flooding in a number of Jakarta areas is currently caused by water shipments from upstream or buffer areas.

This is because, based on the results of its monitoring, the rainfall in Jakarta since Sunday, March 2 until today has not been classified as extreme.

"Right now, it can be said that the majority of almost 90 percent (floods in Jakarta) are shipments. Because the rainfall in Jakarta itself is quite low," Pramono said after visiting Manggarai Water Gate, South Jakarta, Tuesday, March 4.

However, Pramono did not want to blame the buffer zone in Jabodetabek for the water shipments that resulted in flooding. According to him, the DKI Provincial Government remains responsible for tackling the Jakarta floods regardless of the conditions.

On the one hand, Pramono admitted that he would invite governors, regents and mayors in Jabodetabek to sit down together to resolve flooding in the near future.

"Because this settlement cannot be partially only Jakarta. In fact, I have received a report that currently has a big impact on Bekasi," Pramono explained.

In addition, Pramono also instructed the DKI Water Resources Service to activate all pumps, both mobile and stationary pompoa, to faster encourage flood water to the sea.

"Pumps at 200 points, totaling 500 pumps, I ask that all of them be activated because so that the existing water can be thrown into the sea immediately," explained Pramono.

As is known, the DKI Jakarta BPBD recorded 122 RTs in Jakarta being flooded due to rains that hit the Bogor area on Sunday, March 2 and heavy rains in Jakarta on Monday, March 3. The worst condition in Gedong Village with water levels reached 5 meters on Tuesday, March 4 afternoon.

Extreme rainfall also caused several rivers to overflow, such as the Ciliwung River, Pesanggrahan River, Krukut River, to Grogol River. The worst flood point was in settlements near the overflowing riverbanks.
