This Is The Feeling Of Driving BYD Sealion 7 Jakarta-Bandung-Jakarta Route: A Comfortable Crossover Sporty
JAKARTA - PT BYD Motor Indonesia has launched BYD Sealion 7, an electric crossover that complements EV lines in the country market at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025 some time ago.
After the event, the Chinese manufacturer invited media colleagues including VOI to test the car's ability, titled 'Innovation Unleashed: Media Driving Experience' on the Jakarta-Bandung-Jakarta route on February 26-27.
During the trip, the media crew were given the opportunity to test the BYD Sealion 7 type Performance. So, how is the impression of driving on this trip? Here's the full review.
Futuristic Exterior Design
Before reviewing the impression of driving, let's peel closer to the design of the Sealion 7. In Indonesia, this car comes in the Premium and Performance variants. Both have a modern look with the concept of the Avant-garde Dynamic Front Face and Ocean-X Face. This gives a modern impression without ruling out the aerodynamic side. Then, the front has a Double-U headlights floating in a 20-inch rim in the Performance variant and a 19-inch rim for Premium.
Exclusive for the Performance type, the car also has a red disc brake color that emphasizes the aggressive and sporty impression.
The sporty impression is also highlighted by this car on the back, such as the back spoiler which contributes to aerodynamics and rear lights that flow with more futuristic lighting.
Interior Full Of Luxury
The cabin itself does not only have a futuristic impression, but also a different luxury. This is evidenced by the interior covered with full-leader materials with 80 percent being a soft-touch surface that provides luxury in driving.
Not only that, BYD Sealion 7 has an ambient light consisting of 128 color choices to create a comfortable atmosphere.
Just like other BYD cars, Sealion 7 has a 15.6-inch touch screen that can rotate so the driver can adjust it according to his will. This car also has a W-HUD that displays information about vehicle speed, Adaptive Cruise Control status and Lane Keeping Assist.
The car has a 12-way electrical seat arrangement located on the two front seats, as well as giving an impression of excessive comfort.
Impress To Be A Driver
Returning to the media drive, the VOI team got the first chance to test this vehicle on its way to Bandung. The journey starts with the BYD Arista BSD City dealer network, Tangerang with a 100 percent battery capacity.
While occupying the driver's seat, the convenience of this car is so thick coupled with an electronic seat arrangement feature that gives the impression of more comfort in driving.
The steering section can also be arranged with a tilt & telescopic so that the driver can adjust the distance between the steering wheel and the driver as desired. However, this tuning is still conventional and does not use an electric configuration like other luxury cars.
BYD Sealion 7 has the same transmission lever as its sedan brother, Seal. However, this requires control for drivers who are used to the ICE car lever in general.
This car can comfortably bulldoze various road contours while on the way to Bandung. Not only that, Sealion 7 also has performance that is powered when it bulldozes on toll roads and is quite agile control. This is thanks to electrical propulsion measuring 390 kW and torque reaching 690 Nm.
BYD Sealion 7 has a fairly high stability when walking above a speed of 120 km/h. The cabinet also has good sound resistance thanks to the double-glass in this car window, which is able to reduce sound from outside.
Arriving in Bandung, the journey continued to various points of dismissal such as Raja Rasa, Husein Sastranegara Aircraft Hangar, and ended up at the Intercontinental Dago Hotel by passing through the tightness of this developed city. Despite having a large dimension, Sealion 7 has proven to have a different twist in the face of congestion.
Upon arrival at the inn, this car has 54 percent battery remaining. This proves that Sealion 7 has good energy efficiency when passing toll roads and urban congestion.

Impression Of Being A Passenger
The next day, the VOI team had the opportunity to become passengers. The front passenger seat has the same comfort as the driver. However, note for the back.
While occupying the back seat, the suspension fell quite hard when passing obstacles such as potholes, bumpy roads, and sleeping police. Not only that, seat doses also feel lower and thigh support is less ergonomic which reduces comfort for long trips.
Conclusion
BYD once again did not play games in Indonesia's electric vehicle competition by launching Sealion 7, where this is the sixth model they launched in the national market.
This car has various advantages that prospective buyers should consider if they want vehicles that are responsive, broad, comfortable, and agile in various areas.
Currently, this manufacturer from China sells Sealion 7 starting from IDR 629 million for Premium type and IDR 719 million for Performance.
