Unraveling Congestion In The Afternoon, Drivers Can Go Through The Shoulder Of The Semanggi Toll Road To Cawang

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya has issued discretion regarding the rules for driving on inner-city toll roads. Now, motorists are allowed to drive on the shoulder of the road.

Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Director Kombes Latif Usman said the discretion was aimed at unraveling the frequent congestion.

"Giving discretion for motorists to use the shoulder of the Inner City Toll Road," said Latif in his statement, Wednesday, February 26.

The discretion has been in effect since February 24. Road shoulder points that can be passed from Semanggi or Km 7 to Cawang Interchange.

Then, the discretion of these rules will apply every Monday to Friday, at 18.00 - 20.00 WIB.

"This step was taken to reduce vehicle density in the afternoon hours," he said.

Even though they are allowed to cross the shoulder of the road, motorists must prioritize priority vehicles such as ambulances, firefighters, patrol officers, and VVIP trips.

Apart from that, Latif appealed to motorists to keep following the rules such as maintaining a safe distance. Thus, safety will be guaranteed.

"Officers have installed special signs at the location to provide information to the public regarding this policy," said Latif.
