Prilly Latuconsina's Dream To Lift The Beauty Of The Indonesian Sea Through Films
JAKARTA - Prilly Latuconsina, an actress and environmental activist, is known for her concern for nature conservation, especially the Indonesian marine ecosystem. As part of the "Whale Shark Cloud," Prilly has a strong determination to raise public awareness about the importance of maintaining Indonesian marine beauty and underwater wealth.
In a media meeting in Jakarta, Prilly expressed her desire to lift the charm of Kaimana Waters, West Papua, through a long film. "Actually, if I can choose, I want to really make a long film about the sea, be it a documentary or fiction that raises Indonesian tourism," he said.
According to Prilly, marine tourism in Indonesia has an extraordinary appeal that has not been explored much. This beauty is not enough to only be shown in short documentaries, but requires a wider medium to reach more people.

In October 2024, while busy arranging the Indonesian Film Festival (FFI), Prilly and the Indonesian Conservation produced a 17-minute documentary about Kaimana Waters. With a production period of one week and without too complex equipment, he tries to express his love for the environment into the film.
Prilly thinks that the public's interest in documentaries is still quite high. Therefore, he wants to make his documentary an educational medium that is interesting to the younger generation. "We have to package this documentary in a fun way, so it doesn't feel intimidating, but instead invites the audience to take part in the adventure with us," he added.
He hopes that this film can inspire more people to adopt an environmentally friendly lifestyle and appreciate the natural beauty of Indonesia more. "Apart from many watching, I want real action after that. For example, they care more about protecting the environment, are interested in adapting an environmentally friendly lifestyle, choosing vacations abroad before going abroad, or even taking a diving license to enjoy the beauty of the Indonesian sea," he said.
As one of the great potential ecotourism destinations, Kaimana is ready to welcome tourists who want to enjoy their natural beauty while contributing to environmental conservation efforts.
