Commission III Of The House Of Representatives Asks For Perbasi And Schools Not To Protect Perpetrators Of Violence During Basketball Tournaments In Bogor

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Ahmad Sahroni, asked the Bogor City schools and Perbasi not to cover up the beatings that occurred in the basketball tournament in Bogor. According to Sahroni, the act of violence is clearly a bullying that cannot be underestimated.

This case involved a student with the initials RC from SD Mardiwaluya Cibinong who beat a student at SMPN 1 Bogor, with the initials S, in a match that took place in Bogor City.

"I ask both the school and Perbasi, no one is trying to cover up or protect the perpetrators," said Sahroni, in his statement, Saturday, February 22.

Although the victim does not feel aggrieved, continued Sahroni, this case can be processed legally. He also invited all stakeholders in the field of sports to evaluate to create a competition environment that is safe and free from violence, including referees, associations, parents, and schools.

Sahroni also reminded the importance of character coaching for athletes to ensure they understand the importance of sportsmanship and the dangers of arrogant action in matches.

The NasDem legislator for the Jakarta electoral district hopes that the police can intervene to mediate this case through a restorative justice mechanism.

"And the police can also intervene to mediate between the two parties, resolved through restorative justice only. With a note, this is the last act of violence committed by the perpetrators. Both in the world of sports and outside," said Sahroni.

Perbasi Bogor City has disqualified RC from the tournament and blacklisted his name, so he is prohibited from participating in basketball competitions in Bogor City.
