Regarding Megawati Forbids PDIP Regional Heads From Participating In Retret, Rano Karno: Ask DPP, My Duties Are Deputy Governor
JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno (Doel) was efficient about the order of the General Chairperson of the PDI-P (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri to the regional head of his party not to take part in the retret of regional heads today.
Rano admitted that he was focusing on carrying out his new duties as Jakarta's leader. As is known, Pramono Anung and Rano Karno were only appointed by the Governors of DKI Jakarta on February 20.
Thus, Rano was reluctant to answer the political dynamics in the party that carried him and left all decisions to the management at the central level.
"That's asking the DPP, my job is now the deputy governor, working. This is my first task," said Rano when met at Pasar Minggu, Friday, February 21.
Rano said that the deputy regional head was originally scheduled to attend the retreat on February 27. Meanwhile, governors, regents, and mayors have undergone a retret since today.
Then, regarding the whereabouts of DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, who is still unknown whether he also canceled following the retreat according to Megawati's orders or still departing, Rano admitted that he did not know.
"That's asking him (Pramono)," replied Rano.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) officially detained PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto regarding the Harun Masiku case. PDIP chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri responded by ordering regional heads and deputy heads from her party not to take part in retret activities in Magelang on Friday, February 21.
Megawati's order was conveyed through letter numbered 7294/IN/DPP/II/2025 issued today, Thursday, February 20 or after PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto was detained by the KPK.
"It was instructed to all regional heads and deputy regional heads of the PDI-P as follows: regional heads and deputy regional heads to postpone travel that will take part in the retret in Magelang on February 21-28," Megawati wrote in a letter obtained from a source on Thursday evening, February 20.
Megawati ordered them to wait for further directions from him if they had traveled.
"If you have been on your way to Magelang City to stop and wait for further directions from the general chairman," he said.
Not only that, Megawati also asked regional heads to remain active and on standby for further orders. This instruction was issued by Megawati who observed the dynamics of national politics after Hasto was detained.
He said that there had been legal criminalization. Megawati alluded to having control in providing instructions for regional heads from PDIP.
