Minister Of Industry Agus Agrees On Zero ODOL Rules To Be Implemented Immediately

JAKARTA - Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita agreed that the zero-vehicle over-dimension overload (ODOL) rule should be implemented immediately.

This was conveyed by Agus after a meeting with the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi at the Ministry of Industry office, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 19.

"Today we inaugurate an agreement between the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Industry that it is time for the Zero ODOL policy to be implemented, implemented, carried out," said Agus.

Agus said that his party would submit a number of proposals before the implementation of the policy. But what is certain, he said, is that the Zero ODOL policy must be implemented immediately.

"There are many considerations, we will propose them later. But basically, the implementation of the zero ODOL will be executed and implemented immediately," he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Transportation Dudy appreciated the Ministry of Industry's steps to agree that the Zero ODOL rules should be implemented immediately.

According to Dudy, this is a form of our commitment by the government to ensure the safety of transportation, especially land transportation.

"So, we agree that we will carry out the implementation or implementation of Zero ODOL without further steps, as stated by the Minister of Industry (Agus Gumiwang). However, we will also cooperate with other stakeholders related to the implementation of this Zero ODOL," he concluded.

Previously, Transportation Observer Deddy Herlambang assessed that the Ministry of Industry was one of the reasons why Zero ODOL rules had not been implemented until now.

"Because, right, 2019 there has been a ban on ODOL (vehicles). However, because of objections from the Ministry of Industry, it has been pushed back until 2023. In 2023 it turns out that it is also not 0, it will continue to increase," said Deddy when contacted by VOI, Wednesday, February 5.

"That's why this is not true. How does this work? This is a matter of life, a matter of safety. If the government is serious, the error should be reduced," he continued.

Moreover, said Denny, President Prabowo Subianto himself has instructed the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani to cut the budget in all ministries/agencies.

According to him, the government is increasingly not serious about dealing with ODOL vehicle problems.

"Especially now with the efficiency of the budget. If the budget for safety is crossed out, yes, the government is not serious about taking care of it," he said.
