Traveling Becomes A Primary Need For Gen Z?

JAKARTA - Traveling has become a necessity for many people, especially for generation Z or gen Z. The need for Z genes for traveling has even made them one of the biggest drivers of tourism progress.

This was revealed by Gaery Undarsa, Co-Founder, and Chief Marketing Officer of Tiket.com. He said the decisions of the Z genes for traveling were also influenced by their age, most of which were already working and making their own income at this time.

The biggest trend is in the Z gene actually. Gen Z is already in the timing, where they are now one of the big tour drivers," said Gaery, in Jakarta, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

Gen Z traveling is not just an additional need in life, but includes the main needs. They prefer to have a beautiful travel experience, compared to other things.

"Because Gen Z sees traveling now is not an additional or secondary need. For example, they don't need this, that's the important thing, the experience is good first," he said.

"So the funny thing about gen Z is tourism and traveling is their primary need," he added.

For travel purposes, Gen Z also has its own preferences. No need to go far, just a moment of healing with a staycation has become a fun vacation for them.

"I want to take any form. Even though they are not far away, the important thing is that they have healing, there is a staycation," he concluded.
