13 Demands For Dark Indonesian Action, From Education Funds, Nutritional Eating, To PSN
YOGYAKARTA - Students from various campuses held an action of Dark Indonesia on Monday (17/2). The demonstration was held in front of the Horse Statue, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Gambir, Central Jakarta. There were 13 demands for the Dark Indonesia action voiced by the demonstrators.
The action, called Dark Indonesia, was followed by students from BEM All over Indonesia (BEM SI). They conveyed various demands related to government programs and policies that were considered disturbing people's lives. These students also emphasized that they would return to hold actions in various regions if their demands were not met.
So what are the demands of Indonesia's illegal actions fought for by students in yesterday's Dark Indonesia action?
The student movement in this Dark Indonesia action emerged because there were a number of government policies that were considered to have a negative impact on the community. The following are the 13 demands made by the mass action:
The action of Dark Indonesia, which was followed by students from various regions in Indonesia, took place with tensions. The mass of students packed the area around the concrete road divider, dealing directly with the police ranks. Several students were seen standing and sitting on a concrete fence shouting chants at the authorities.
Chaos occurred when students started throwing plastic bottles, pieces of wood, and garbage at the police. The situation escalated after a policeman using a loudspeaker asked the masses to disperse because the time had shown 18.00 WIB.
On the other hand, thick gray smoke originating from the burning of tires billowing and enveloping the area around the Horse Statue. Even so, students threatened to hold a bigger action if their demands were not met.
The mass of the Dark Indonesia action carried various banners with messages that stole the attention. One of the banners read, "The child eats for free, his parents are laid off."
The article is a sharp satire for the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program which has been implemented since January 6, 2025. The program targeting school children to pregnant women is associated with the policy of cutting the budget in a number of agencies.
A number of other banners read, 'Tut Wuri Efficiency', 'EfisienShit!', and 'Ok Gas Ok Gas, Budget Is Difficult!'.
