After Being Built, AI SarI Chatbot Made By The Indonesian Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Is Undergoing Testing

JAKARTA - A chatbot with artificial intelligence (AI) SARI (Indonesian Migrant Artificial Relations) made by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is undergoing testing, said the Director General of Protection for Indonesian Citizens Judha Nugraha.

"Currently, the AI chatbot has been built and is undergoing testing," Judha said in a short message, Friday, February 14.

"It will be officially launched soon," he added.

Judha further said that the AI SARI chatbot was built together between the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UN Women. It will later be embedded in one of the ministries' digital ecosystems.

"It will be embedded in the Safe Travel feature," said Judha.

Previously reported, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to take advantage of the development of technology, information, digital to artificial intelligence, in order to support the services and protection of Indonesian citizens (WNI) abroad.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Arrmanatha Ch. Nasir said, related to the use of the digital ecosystem in efforts to protect and provide services, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to strive to increase innovation.

"There is a Safe Travel, Portal Peduli WNI. Now we are continuing to increase innovation, including using AI (artificial intelligence) in providing assistance to Indonesian citizens with the SARI system," he explained in his presentation on the service and protection achievements of Indonesian citizens abroad throughout 2024 at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thursday, February 13.

On the same occasion, Judha said, AI SARI chatbots were presented to provide humanist services.

"If ordinary chatbots cannot detect language, (SARI) even use Javanese can respond, they can provide empathy. We have trained to be able to provide empathy and also respond to needs when getting problems," explained Judha.

He said, Portal Peduli WNI is a web base. Meanwhile, Safe Travel is a mobile application that can be downloaded on the App Store and Play Store.

Caring for Indonesian citizens is intended for Indonesian citizens who live abroad. Meanwhile, Safe Travel, continued Judha, is dedicated to Indonesian citizens who travel briefly abroad, although Indonesian citizens who live abroad can also be used.

"This is a form of commitment from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to carry out digital transformation to make it easier for people to get the service and protection of Indonesian citizens," explained Judha.
