West Aceh Police Examine 7 Land Owners Related To The Karhutla Case

WEST ACEH - Investigators from the West Aceh Police Criminal Investigation Unit handled land fires that occurred at a number of points with affected areas reaching 7.5 hectares.

"We have examined seven land owners in connection with this land fire case," said Head of the West Aceh Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Iptu Fachmi Suciandy to ANTARA regarding forest and land fires (karhutla) in Meulaboh, Thursday, February 13.

There are also seven land owners who have been questioned, listed as residents of Blang Beurandang Village, Johan Pahlawan District, Meulaboh, West Aceh Regency.

Apart from the land owner, the police also asked for information from witnesses who saw the incident.

Iptu Fachmi Suciandy said that the land fires that had occurred during the last few days, one of which occurred in Blang Beurandang Village, Johan Pahlawan District, West Aceh Regency.

He explained that the investigation was carried out by the police on the orders of the West Aceh Police Chief AKBP Andi Kirana, as an effort to conduct an investigation for the law enforcement process.

"Is the forest and land fires caused by humans, or because natural factors will be answered later after the investigation is underway," he said.

In addition to examining a number of witnesses, West Aceh Police Satreskrim investigators also installed police lines at the location of the fire.

If later it is proven that there is an intentional factor, or negligence in land owners, causing forest and land fires, of course, will be dealt with according to applicable regulations.

"There is a criminal threat in accordance with the law that will be given to criminals who deliberately burn land that causes forest and land fires," he said.

The West Aceh Police also appealed to the public not to clear land or gardens by burning.

As a measure to anticipate land fires, the West Aceh Police have also put up many banners so that people do not burn land, because there will be criminal threats waiting, said Iptu Fachmi Suciandy.
