Held Inspection, Officers Find 63 Predators In Kramat Jati, East Jakarta

JAKARTA - Officers from the DKI Jakarta Food, Maritime and Agriculture Security Service found 63 predatory fish in the Showroom of Predator Batu Ampar, Jalan Pos Inerbang Number 15 RT 10/RW 3, Batu Ampar, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, today.

The predatory fish was found when officers from the DKI Jakarta Food, Maritime and Agriculture Security Service (KPKP) conducted a surprise inspection (sidak) of predatory fish traders.

"We found a total of 63 predatory fish after we checked and monitored the Batu Ampar Predator Showroom," said Head of the Sub-Corruption and Control Group for Marine Resources and Fisheries of the DKI Jakarta KPKP Service, Nian, quoted from Antara, Thursday, February 13.

A total of 63 predatory fish consist of several types such as 11 alligators, ariaima (1), pyrono (18), peacock bass (31) and Esox Americanus two.

This inspection is a follow-up to the Regulation of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Number 19/PERMEN-KP/2020 concerning the Prohibition of Income, Empowerment, Circulation and Expenditures of Fish Types that are Dangerous and/or Harmful to the State Fisheries Management Area of the Republic of Indonesia.

Nian said this predatory fish could have an impact on society and be harmful to the fish population in Indonesia.

"In the past, the fish were too big in Jatiluhur, finally disturbing the passing of the ship. So this fish is very predatory, has a strong immune system," he said.

These are not local fish but imports that are indeed dangerous for the local fish endemic.

In addition, Nian explained, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government always educates ornamental fish traders not to trade fish that are prohibited because they will receive legal sanctions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

The DKI Jakarta KPKP Service Team will also provide opportunities for business actors to voluntarily submit their fish to be destroyed or make statements ready for further processing in accordance with applicable laws.

During the inspection, the owner of the Showroom Predator Batu Ampar, Fikri (30) admitted that he did not know which fish were dangerous and should not be sold.

"It's only been four months, this is still new. Alhamdulillah, the positive value is that we sell the allowed fish. So we just accept those who sell and sell," he said.

He admitted that at first he did not know that the fish were prohibited from being kept. "I found out it was still confusing. Well, if, for example, the ministry is here, I am Alhamdulillah," said Fikri.

Fikri said that he got the type of predatory fish from different people. Meanwhile, predatory fish buyers have less interest than ornamental fish.

"Because the people or traders who come here offer different things. The enthusiasts are also small, the price is around Rp. 2-5 million. A month sells at most 5-7 tails. The most expensive is Rp. 10 million," he said.

Even though he feels a loss, he is grateful that he has received socialization from the authorities so that he does not carelessly receive fish from traders who visit his shop.

"Yes, if you lose, you will lose, but in the future it will be even better, Alhamdulillah, it will be given convenience. God willing, in the future it will run smoothly after this incident. Other traders can also anticipate so they can find the money straight," he said.
