Installing More Bodies For Ukraine, NATO Says Trump's Phone Negotiations To Putin Are Successful

JAKARTA - NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte assessed that Donald Trump's telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding war negotiations in Ukraine was successful.

"Obviously giving the impression that it was a successful phone call. We all want peace in Ukraine," he said, quoted from Tass, Thursday, February 13.

Rutte reiterated the importance of Ukraine being in the best negotiating position.

Peace in the long term should be realized in Ukraine, he said, without naming other countries.

"It is important that peace lasts," he added.

Rutte said NATO officials and allies would discuss the negotiations in a few days.

Putin and Trump communicated by telephone on February 12. The two discussed efforts to stop hostilities in Ukraine, increase bilateral relations, and a number of other issues.

Putin and Trump also agreed to continue their talks by scheduling face-to-face meetings.
