Regular Eating Eggs Can Make You Long?
JAKARTA - Eggs are one of the food ingredients that has many body benefits. Interestingly, regularly consuming eggs can make lifespan longer.
This was revealed through a study conducted by researchers at Monash University, which revealed the unexpected benefits of consuming eggs regularly. The study involved 8,756 adults aged 70 years or over.
The participants reported the total frequency of their egg intake, namely never/ rarely (1-2 times/month), weekly (1-6 times/week), and daily (every day/few times per day). Then this study found that parents or the elderly were relatively healthy, consuming one to six eggs every week.
This habit is related to the risk of death which is 15 percent lower due to any cause. The risk of death from cardiovascular disease is 29 percent lower than those that are rare or do not consume eggs.
This can happen because of the nutritional content in eggs. One of them is protein that helps parents who have experienced physical decline due to age.
Telur is a nutrient-intensive food, a rich source of protein, and an important source of nutrients such as minerals and other elements, said study lead author Holly Wild, quoted from the Monash University website, on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

The egg is also an easy source of protein for older adults. Research shows that eggs are a source of choice for older adults, who may experience physical and sensory decline due to age, he added.
This study also shows the relationship between egg consumption and death at various levels of food quality, which is low, medium, and high. As a result, adults with moderate to high quality of eating are reported to have 33 percent and 44 percent lower risk of death.
"It is shown that adding eggs to medium and high quality foods can increase longevity," the researchers wrote.
Meanwhile, Australian Diet Guidelines and the American Heart Association (AHA) recommend that adults with normal cholesterol can consume up to seven boxes of eggs per week. However, consuming three to four eggs every week is also enough.
